Sacrilege! Tintin to become an "animation"

"What the bloody Hell's going on here!?!"

Terrible news: Tintin, one of the greatest comic strips of all time, is set to be turned into a series of 3d "animation" films.

This is an outrage.

Cartoons definitely, a real film with real actors - possibly - but a ghastly triumvirate of animated adventures?

Hergé would be turning in his grave, shouting "never, never, never"!

And it's goodbye from him ...

"Adios, Amigos!"

The most successful Labour leader ever, quite posssibly Britain's finest Prime Minister, one of the greatest statesmen this nation - nay the world - has ever seen.

This country may never see his like again.

Band of brothers end decades of despair

Ian Paisley, Martin McGuinness, Tony Blair and Bertie Ahern

Tuesday, May the eighth, 2007. Remember the date, the day peace returned to Northern Ireland.

Legacy? How's this for a legacy!

Martin McGuinness, Bertie Ahern, Tony Blair, Peter Hain and Ian Paisley

Northern Ireland, a truly breathtaking land. From Derry in the North-West down to Newcastle on the Eastern coast, through the rolling hills of the Glenshayne Pass, where the Mountains of Mourne, with patchwork fields below, roll down to the sea, a land of beauty, of tranquility upon the calm and steady waters of Lough Neagh, a sea of serenity.

Never again shall this landscape be scarred.

But enough words, enough talk; sit back, enjoy the music and remember the past, and with hope in your heart look forward to the future:-

Because politics works; because peace, real peace, really is better than hatred, violence and death.

Watch a report of today's historic proceedings, this eighth day of May's momentous events, over on the BBC News website.
